Bishop Billy R. Mason, age 77, of Leitchfield, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 20, 2020 at his home.

He was born in Henry County, Virginia on Aug. 25, 1942 the son of the late Perry and Myrtle Chaney Mason.

He was Pastor and Founder of God’s Mission Full Gospel Church (five years), Chaplain at Grayson Manor Nursing Home (18 years), and former Pastor at Church of God of Prophecy (53 years) and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Hattie Sue Mason; daughter, Cathy Adkins, and husband Leo; daughter, Penny Gushiken, and husband Kevin; four grandchildren, Dedra Richardson (Cal), Ashleigh Gushiken, Winston Adkins, and Ryan Gushiken; three great-grandchildren, Emma Adkins, Landyn Adkins, and Jaxson Richardson; sister, Donna Peters; and brother, Perry Alan Mason. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Janice Mason and Jonathan Mason; brothers, Robert Mason, R.E. “Dink” Mason, and Charlie Mason; and sisters, Maxine Hayes and Peggy Gilley.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Dr. Alan Mason, Dr. Kevin Gushiken, and Rev. J.R. Smiley will be officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Visitation was at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and will also be held from 9 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
