The Lady Cougars tip off.

The Grayson County High School hosted Meet the Cougar Night last Friday.

It was kicked off with a chili supper and a silent auction that managed to draw a large crowd. But it was the Cougar and Lady Cougar inter-squad scrimmage games that brought the masses. Meet the Cougar Night provides an opportunity for the high school to introduce this season’s teams to the community as well as rally support.

If the scrimmage games set the tone for the season, it will likely be a good one. Both the Cougar and Lady Cougar teams were divided into evenly matched teams that provided good competition and a nice warm up for the upcoming season. The scrimmages were followed up with two alumni games by former athletes to take on the current Cougar and Lady Cougar teams to end the night.

The first alumni team was made up of Maddie Stewart, Kylee Gorby, Shelbi Tyra, Brittany Bird, Kelsea Wilson-Martin, Lori Oller, Patty Dunaway, and Chelsea Pharris-Gilbert. While the team facing the boys consisted of Isaac Miller, Aaron Deviney, Norman Jennings, Billy McCubbin, Nick Crawford, Chris Gaither, Hunter Gary, Ethan Saltsman, Harold Goff, Ernie Perkins, Bryan Langdon, and Keith Escue. Both the Cougar and Lady Cougar teams came out victorious with a final score of 27-23 for the girls and 22-20 for the boys.
