The Grayson County Cougars hosted the McLean County Cougars last Friday night, where Grayson fell just short of a victory with a final score of 46-41.

Grayson County started off slow as their first three attempts by Nolan Shartzer were no good. Grayson led 8-6 at the end of the first quarter, but relinquished the lead to McLean in the second and were never able to retake it.

Grayson struggled against McLean’s defense as they only managed to score four points in the second quarter. The second quarter ended at 21-12. However Grayson managed to suppress McLean in the third quarter, only allowing for McLean to put seven points. Shartzer ran the clock down to end the third at 28-23.

The fourth quarter saw an offensive battle, with both Grayson and McLean putting up 18 points. Shartzer led the team with 16 points, followed by Hunter Tomes with ten, and Keegan Sharp with six. Final: 46-41.

The loss brings the Grayson County Cougars’ season to 1-1.
