Downtown Antiques opens Monday, Sept. 2 at the corner of South English and West Main St. in Leitchfield.

On Monday, Sept. 2, Leitchfield will see a new antiques store on the corner of South English Street and West Main Street.

Vickie Decker is opening Downtown Antiques because this is something she has always wanted. She said she always tried to make her home as look as old and primitive as she could.

"I love the old stuff and old looking stuff," she said.

She will have Mona Armstrong on staff to share her knowledge of antiques. They will sell antiques, primitives and collectibles including furniture, glassware, signs and other antiques items. They will also go to estate cleanouts where antiques are involved and bring the items back to the store.

Booth rentals will be available in addition to selling things on a 25 percent commission if a person has a single item or multiple items they would like to sell in the store.

Decker said she would also like to take part in fellowship with people about God.

"God told me, 'You open the doors and I'll fill it,'" she said.

Decker also wants to be helpful to those who may be in need of a friend.

"There's many people in this world that need a word or just a smile and that's what I'm here for," she said.

Store hours will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. For more information, contact the store at (270) 259-9905.
