Angela Young, the Millwood mother injured last month in a house explosion, died this past weekend at the University of Louisville Hospital. She was 44.

The mother of two was transported to U of L Hospital on the evening of Wednesday, Jan. 29 after suffering burns to around 80 percent of her body when her home at 129 Crawford St. in Millwood exploded.

Young and her 7-year-old daughter were exiting the residence due to a gas leak when it exploded, blowing both of them into the front yard.

After arriving at U of L, Young was placed in a medically induced coma and died from her injuries this past Saturday.

The 7-year-old sustained burns to around 20 percent of her body and was also transported to Louisville for medical treatment. She was expected to be released within a day or two.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the residence was already on the ground, having exploded due to a propane gas leak from a faulty connection on the home’s gas heater.

A benefit auction will be hosted by The Logsdon Group and The ChatterBox Salon on Sunday, Feb. 23 from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Caneyville Elementary School to assist Young's family. A chili supper will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the auction set to begin at 2:30 p.m.

Donations for the auction may be dropped off at The ChatterBox Salon or Brenis Hudson Barbershop in Clarkson, as well as the Dinner Bell Restaurant in Caneyville.
