The Leitchfield City Council on Monday hears the audit report for Leitchfield's 2018-2019 fiscal year.

The city of Leitchfield received clean audit reports of its general, tourism, and utilities funds this week.

Jeff Carter, a CPA with Taylor Polson, and Company, out of Glasgow, Kentucky, provided audit reports to both the Leitchfield City Council and Leitchfield Tourism Commission during back-to-back special meetings Monday evening.

All three of the city's primary funds - general, utilities, and tourism - received clean (unmodified) audits and showed no significant issues.

In particular, Carter commended the city for its budgeting. The city budgeted $8.6 million in revenues for the 2018-2019 fiscal year but actually earned around $8.9 million, for a favorable balance of around $300,000. The city also budgeted $12.4 million in expenditures for the year but had slightly over $12 million, for a $413,000 favorable balance.

"You did a very good job budgeting," said Carter, adding that the city is in good financial standing.

At the conclusion of Carter's presentations, the tourism commission and city council both approved and accepted their audit reports as presented.
