The Leitchfield City Council meets in regular session Monday night.

Tammee Saltsman, Director of Leitchfield Parks and Recreation, announced Monday at the Leitchfield City Council meeting that the city has been awarded a $149,150 grant from the state Department for Local Government.

According to Saltsman, the grant - which was initially announced by Commissioner of the Department for Local Government Sandy Dunahoo last Friday during a press conference at the Caneyville Purple Flash Center - will be used to update to James D. Beville Park.

Saltsman said they plan to create a mountain biking/walking path that leads from Veteran's Memorial Park to the Leitchfield Aquatic Center using the funding.

"This is going to be a wonderful project for the community," Dunahoo said during the press conference.
