Easter festivities came early this year in Big Clifty, Caneyville, and Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation.

First, the East Grayson County Fire Department held its egg hunt last Saturday at 9 a.m. with over 1,100 Easter eggs. The department also raised money for Crusade for Children by serving breakfast and selling donuts from Best Donuts.

Children were separated into three categories: 0-4, 5-7 and 8-12. There were many more small children, so after they collected their eggs, they were able to help the bigger kids find theirs as well.

The city of Caneyville held its annual egg hunt at noon Saturday at the Purple Flash Community Center. The Easter Bunny and Easter Chicken were there to take pictures. Children ages 0-12 were able to hunt eggs and were grouped by age. There were prize eggs for each group, and everyone who participated was given a ticket for several door prizes that were given away.

Lastly, Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation held an Easter egg hunt for its residents on Tuesday afternoon.

17 residents and 17 staff members participated in the egg hunt. Eggs were filled with candy, jewelry, and money. Linda Mills collected the most eggs with 22, and Linda Garrett came in second place with 17 eggs. They won special prizes for finding the most eggs.

Peggy Williams also got a special prize for being the oldest egg hunter at 95 years old.
