At Monday night's Clarkson City Commission meeting, Mayor Bonnie Henderson announced Clarkson Baptist Church's efforts to help improve the community.

Henderson said the church has offered to do painting, landscaping, clean up and other tasks to help the residents of Clarkson and to improve the overall look of the community.

Clarkson Baptist along with other local churches and businesses formed a group called "Clarkson Connected" and will host a community Thanksgiving dinner at the Clarkson Community Center on Nov. 23 from 10:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or until the food is gone.

According to Henderson, the meal will be catered by K's Cafe, Redneck Ranch Restaurant and the Grayson County High School Culinary Arts students.

They plan on 250 people attending, but they said anyone who wants to come is welcome.

Henderson said that if this event goes well, Clarkson Connected plans to hold a community dinner every month.
