At Monday night’s Clarkson City Commission meeting, two resolutions were met: the Millerstown Road sidewalk project and City Park sidewalk project.

The Millerstown Road project will see a sidewalk extended to just before the Western Kentucky Parkway, while the City Park project will see the construction of a sidewalk extending to Clarkson City Park.

In addition, Comcast liaison Matt Kelley attended the meeting in order to answer questions concerning Clarkson’s Comcast franchise agreement. The 20-year-old franchise will come up for renewal in March.

One of the commission’s concerns was the complimentary cable television currently, which is currently provided to city establishments. A new FCC ordinance now requires that any in-kind services be deducted from franchise fees.

Because the state of Kentucky does not collect franchise fees, Kelley was unsure if the cable services would continue at no charge, as Comcast has not come to a resolution on the issue yet.

In other business, City Commissioner Bob Vincent was put over sewer and garbage with City Commissioner Tara Sallee taking over parks.
