Staff Report

A Leitchfield woman died in a crash on the Western Kentucky Parkway last Friday morning.

At approximately 7:45 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, Kentucky State Police Post 4 received a call of a two-vehicle collision on the Western Kentucky Parkway at the 124 mile marker in Hardin County.

According to a KSP news release, law enforcement's preliminary investigation revealed that 64-year-old Debra Stephens, of Leitchfield, had been traveling eastbound on the parkway in a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado while 62-year-old William Roberts, of Winchester, Kentucky, was traveling westbound in a 2019 Freightliner.

The release states that, due to the ice covered road conditions at the time, Stephens crossed the median into the westbound lane and into the path of Robert’s vehicle.

Stephens was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Hardin County Coroner’s Office. Roberts was uninjured.

The westbound lanes were closed and the eastbound lane was reduced to one lane to allow state troopers to investigate the collision, which remains under investigation by KSP Trooper Brandon Brooks.
