Lavada E. Whitehead, age 76, formerly of Caneyville, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013 in Leitchfield, surrounded by her family.
She was born in O’Bannon, Kentucky on October 24, 1936 to the late Charles T. and Anna Belle Burgin. She dedicated her life to taking care of others, working for several years at the former Aid Acres Nursing Home and then retiring from Lincoln Trail Home Health.
Her passion was caring for others and showing her strong faith in Christ throughout her life. Her husband, children and grandchildren were her life and she lived every day proving that to them.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph J. Burgin.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Neal Whitehead; one son, Randy (Marsha) Whitehead, of Clarkson; two daughters, Kathy (Bruce) Haycraft, of Leitchfield, and Gerri (Tony) Webb, of Caneyville; one brother, Doran N. Burgin, of Caneyville. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren all of whom she held very dear to her heart, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild along with her very dear brothers and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews who were very special.
Lavada attended church at Centertown Holiness Church.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Oak Ridge General Baptist Church in Butler County, with burial in the church cemetery, with Rev. Kenney Sapp and Rev. Timmy Hall officiating.
