Vivan Brooks, age 88, of Welch’s Creek, passed away Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Morgantown Care & Rehab.

She was born on August 29, 1923, the daughter of the late Simon R. & Martha Henderson Dockery. She was retired from Morgantown Care & Rehab and was also a member of Chapel Union Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Tomes Brooks, of Morgantown; three sons Roger Brooks (Gayle), and Royce Brooks, both of Morgantown, and Kenneth Brooks, of Welch’s Creek; one sister, Maerean Hayes, of Welch’s Creek; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Brooks, and a son, Dewey Brooks, Jr.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the Chapel Union Missionary Baptist Church, with Bro. Darryl Dockery and Bro. Greg Fields officiating. Burial was in the Chapel Union Cemetery.
