Donald Joseph Sims, Sr., born April 2, 1938, in Dog Creek, Ky., died January 9, 2010 in Macon, Georgia.

He served two years in the army and retired from Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company after 37 years. He was a very active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Macon. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Viola Bradley Sims, siblings Bernice Osnoe, Bernard Sims, Anna Pauline Sims and Mary Doris Douthitt, and a daughter, Tonya Sims.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Yvonne Boyd Sims; children Lori Nicolay (Dan), Michelle Bennett, Donald Sims, Jr. (Sue); grandchildren Katie Zes, Lisa Gibbens (Mike), Aaron Zes, and Hannah Bennett; step-grandchildren Trenton Wilkins, Ariel Napier (Mike), Amber Nicolay, Melissa Nicolay and Dylan Nicolay; 11 step-grandchildren; siblings Cletus Sims (Mary Rose), Clevie Sims (Geraldine), Barbara Robinson (Keith), Bernetta Higdon (Milburn), Sylvester Sims, John Sims (Eva), Brenda Bratcher (Donald); loving pet, Squirtmadiddile (Squirt); three of the best friends he could ever have, Otto, Willard and Henry.

Friends may call at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home, in Clarkson, after 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Rosary Services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday night. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with burial at St. Anthony Cemetery.
