William “Bill” Michael Turnquist passed away February 7, 2013. He was 79 years old.
Bill was born on September 19, 1933 in Kawanee, Illinois to Lenn and Doris Turnquist. HE was the oldest of four children. At a young age his family moved to Southern California where he spent most of his life working for the LA County Fairgrounds as the Livestock Manager. Mr. Turnquist was deeply involved with the American Dairy Goat Breeders Association. He also served as the Dairy goat Superintendent for the North American International Livestock Expo for a number of years. HE held a position with the fairgrounds for nearly half a century. Upon retirement, Bill moved to Kentucky. Bill was known in the livestock and agricultural community for his tireless work to educate the public about the importance of agriculture in our society.
He is survived by his sons Stuart Turnquist (Sheri Turnquist), Bob Turnquist (Jamie Turnquist) and Gary Turnquist; and grandhcildren Cameron, Kaileigh, Brady and Jack; sisters Gloria Ormonde of Temple City, California and Virginia Lamb of Upland, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, February 23 at the Millwood First APostolic Church in Millwood, Kentucky. The service will begin at 11 a.m. CST. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Millwood Apostolic Church.
