Glendon Phelps, age 65, of Grayson County, died on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at his residence after a 10-year illness.

He was born February 18, 1939. He was the son of the late Reverend Lawrence Phelps and Velma Tomes Phelps Cummings of Caneyville.

He was a Doctor of Mechanics, a teacher at Brandis in Louisville, Ky., a master heavy equipment mechanic with C. J. Rust Construction Co., and a member of the Rabbit Flat General Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce H. Phelps; two sons, Glendon Russell and Timothy Lawrence; and one daughter, Karen Leigh. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Adam, Alisha, Jennifer, Jill, Jim, Cole, Tyler, Madison; and four great-grandchildren, Hayden, Taylor, Kaleigh, and preceded in death by Shelbi.

Funeral services were held on Friday, July 23, 2004 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville with Bro. M. D. Raymer officiating.

Burial was in the Woodcock Cemetery.
