LEITCHFIELD -- Facing Warren Central, the top team in the fourth region, the Cougar Varsity found themselves out of their depth and were never really in this game.

The Cougars (7-15) scored first when Chris Elmore hit one of two free throws at the 7:03 mark, but the Dragons (18-3) reeled off 15 straight points to take control of the game. Warren Central led 20-11 at the end of the first quarter.

After the Cougars fell behind by 10 points, 24-14 at the 4:26 mark of the second period, Ryan Ford hit back-to-back-3-pointers to bring his team to within four points. The Dragons' Ryan Anderson followed with his fourth trey of the first half, and when Lonnell DeWalt hit a layup at the 2:11 mark, the Dragons led by nine once more.

Neither team scored in the opening four minutes of the second half before the two team traded baskets. Anderson hit his fifth and final 3-pointer at the 2:36 mark to put the Dragons up by 12 points. Warren Central expanded its lead to 15 points, 40-25 heading into the fourth quarter.

Central grabbed its largest lead of the night at the 3:39 mark when Brandon Cummings hit two free throws to give the Dragons a 23-point lead, 51-28.

With mostly JV players on the floor at the end, the Cougars outscored Central 8-4 the rest of the way.

Central put four players in double figures, led by Anderson with 15. DeWalt had 12, Brook Whitney had 11 and Cummings finished with 10.

Elmore led the way for the Cougars with 15 points. Ford finished with six, while Robert Skaggs and Gavin Logsdon had five each. Isaac Miller scored three and Josh Cooper had two.
