The Tigers (2-1) got the jump on Grayson County (6-1) as the Cougars came out in lethargic-mode. Breck raced to a 7-2 lead in the first minute and a half, but the Cougars came back to tie things 7-7 at the 3:13 mark.
The Tigers scored to take a 9-7 lead at the 3:01 mark, but then the Cougars came down on them with a vengeance. They scored the last four points of the first quarter to tale an 11-9 lead. Grayson County scored the first three points of the second period before the Tigers hit a layup to make it 14-11. The Cougars then scored the last eight points of the half and led 22-11 at the intermission.
When the Cougars opened the third period by scoring the first 13 points, it was all over but the shouting. At the 2:14 mark of the third, Grayson County had extended its lead to 35-11. The Cougars led by as many as 30 points in the fourth quarter, but with bench players in at the end, the Tigers scored the last 12 points of the game to cut the margin to 18.
Grayson County spread the scoring around, with no one reaching double figures, but with nine players making it into the scoring column. Lance Boone and Grant Buckles both scored eight points on the night to lead the Cougars. Josh Smith and Travis Childers both finished with seven and Sean Embry and Blake Clemons had six each. Ryan Butler scored five, Jared Smith had three and Kyle Skaggs had two to complete the scoring.
The Cougars will face Edmonson County Thursday night at Cougar Gym.
