Both teams for Grayson County have an established reputation of being solid regional contenders.

The regular season match play results only reinforced that Grayson County has potential to capture a team title. The huge road block, according to Coach Sherry Vincent, would be the defending 2016 champions, Owensboro Catholic.

Of course, she said, both teams are vulnerable to draws.

The results from the recent 2017 3rd Region Tournament are as follows:

Varsity Girls’ Singles

Number 1 Seed Grace Gorby, of Grayson County, continued her dominance of the 3rd Region by winning the tournament and claiming the 3rd Region championship with a final victory over Number 2 Seed Caroline O’Nan, of Owensboro Catholic, with a score of 6-0, 7-5.

Number 5 Seed Bailey Decker, of Grayson County, competed valiantly as well, making her way to the third round of the tournament before falling to O’Nan, 3-6.
