Cougars get tennis split at Greenwood

Freshman Spencer Sharp sent a backhand return across the net. Sharp dropped his singles match to Greenwood’s Phillip Proctor 2-6, 1-6.

Seventh-grader Maxton Cummings hits a forehand from the baseline. Cummings dropped a 2-8 decision to Greenwood’s George Loughrin on Monday.

The Cougar tennis teams traveled to Bowling Green on Monday for boy/girl matches against the Greenwood Gators and came home with a split.

The Lady Cougars stayed perfect on the season as they defeated the Gators to move to 9-0 on the year. The Lady Cougars assured themselves of the win by taking all of the singles matches. The doubles team of Bailey Decker and Keragan Collard won their doubles match for a 7-0 lead, but as of press time on Tuesday the results of the final two doubles matches were not available.

The young Cougar boys found themselves over-matched against the Gators as they suffered just their second loss of the year, 0-9.
