Grayson County Officials officially declared next week (Monday, Sept. 29 through Friday, Oct. 3) to be Manufacturing Week during an industry luncheon on Monday, Sept. 22.Leitchfield/Grayson County Industrial Development Foundation Executive Director Dudley Cooper said Manufacturing Week has been scheduled to coincide with a number of manufacturing events involving Grayson County Schools—the first of which took place Thursday, Sept. 25.The week will conclude on Friday, Oct. 3 with National Manufacturing Day, Cooper said.Speakers at Monday’s industry spoke about the importance of building a strong local workforce, as well as preparing students while they’re in school for employment after they graduate.


ECTC’s first faculty member reflects on 50 years of teaching

Dr. Linda Mayhew began her mathematics teaching career somewhat reluctantly.She wanted to be a concert pianist, “but they were giving away better math scholarships,” she said.Looking back now on 50 years of teaching math at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, she is happy with her chosen path, even if it was by accident.“My whole life has been an accident,” Mayhew said. “But I got lucky, I’ve enjoyed it.”
