Update: Elementary locked down due to threat

A local elementary school was placed on lock-down for a brief period on Friday morning following a domestic violence threat against a school staffer and three children.Parents of H. W. Wilkey Elementary School students were alerted via the school system’s OneCall telephone messaging system that their children’s school was being placed on lock-down as a precautionary measure following threats.School system personnel stressed that this was a threat only, and no children or adults were harmed.

 

WILKEY UPDATE: LPD issues statement regarding lock-down

Thursday, at approximately 9:49 a.m. the Leitchfield Police Department was notified of a domestic situation in which a subject had made threats to harm his estranged spouse and children.Upon receiving the information, the Grayson County School system was notified and Leitchfield Police Department officers responded to H. W. Wilkey Elementary as a precautionary measure due to the fact that the children attended that school, and the spouse is currently employed by the system.
