An attic fire at an uninhibited house on Shelby Street in Leitchfield caused significant damage, according to Tony King, Second Assistant Chief with the Leitchfield Fire Department.
The home, which is located just off of North Main Street by the railroad tracks, suffered significant damage from the heavy fire, including smoke damage in the attic and water damage to the rest of the home.
King said the home belonged to the Childress estate, though no one has been living there.
Firefighters were alerted to the flames at just before 1 p.m. on Saturday, and it took them about two hours to put out the flames and secure the scene.
