Organization says thank you for help

On behalf of the local unit of the Salvation Army I would like to take this opportunity to thank the paper for the news coverage of the Bells Across America, bell ringing kick off, that was held Nov. 6-8. A Thank You also goes out to those who donated the money, but the real thank you goes out to the young adults who rang the bell Thursday through Saturday.

The students are part of the Y club at the middle school that promotes volunteering and leadership.

Melanie Manion, club advisor and over 100 youth work on projects all year that benefit those in need.

The local unit of the Salvation Army is comprised of just a handful of local residents who are like minded in the belief that with a little work, a lot can be done for those in need.

We are always looking for new members and new ideas.

Each year we meet and establish a budget based on the funds collected during the holiday season.

Those needs change from year to year and the funding changes to meet those needs.

For example this year instead of giving gift cards to just Senior Citizens, the organization will be assisting the Ministerial Association with the Christmas Basket Program.

Assistance is and always will be available as long as we can keep those bells ringing.

Anyone interested in becoming a part of the local unit or would like to ring the bell this season can call me at 259-0043.

Sincerely,

Tracy Dennison

Coordinator
