Health care reform is crime of the century

They have finally done it. Turned what could have been a silk purse into a sow’s ear. Health care reform has now become no more and no less than a federal takeover of insurance companies. Our boundlessly egotistical president and his Chicago gang, with the help of a majority of Congress, have perpetrated on this country the Crime of the Century.

Most of us probably agree that we need improvement in healthcare. Properly done, we could have got it. Instead we got this monstrosity of a pig in a poke, which will have an appetite that we cannot possibly satisfy. What should have been an honest effort to improve healthcare became a yearlong Kick the Companies party hosted by President Obama. To prove to us how low the companies will stoop he gave us the cute little story about his collision claim being denied. I was not impressed. He forgot to tell us he had no collision coverage on his old car. As Joe Wilson said, he lied. In my book twisting the facts is lying.

We used to think our leaders would set the moral tone for the country. We were wrong. This administration has spent a year looking for people to punish. Lying and shyster shenanigans are all part of the game. Bribery is a useful tool. Now we’re told we will all get a free lunch? Who buys the lunch? I buy yours you buy mine? This is dreamland. This healthcare scam is another federal foot in the door. Business as we know it will soon be extinct. Nanny Government will make the rules and we are to meekly obey. That’s not my kind of world.

You may think, since I’m well past the average life span, I shouldn’t be so concerned. But I must. My conscience won’t let me kick the can down the road as our government insists on doing. We have condemned to debt, in perpetuity, people not yet born. We owe it to them to at least try to atone for our profligate ways. We must start by getting rid of the dolts who got us into this mess and elect some honest people, if we can find them, who will reject the shyster shenanigans of the current administration and undo the damage. This country is on the brink of destruction and it may be already too latte to save it.
