The Clarkson City Commission discussed further efforts to raise funds for the new Clarkson City Hall and Community Center project at their regular monthly meeting on Monday, Feb. 10.
More than $20,600 has been raised for the construction of the new building which will include local city offices as well as meeting space which will be available for rental to the public.
The groundwork has already been completed for the project and construction is expected to start in spring, according to Mayor Bonnie Henderson. The facility is scheduled to be completed before the end of the year, and construction plans are currently in the process of being approved by the state, the group said.
While the city is prepared to handle the bulk of construction costs, donated funds will go toward furnishing the building, creating parking space and landscaping.
The council agreed that donors will have their individual or business names on a permanent display inside the new City Hall and Community Center.
Donations can be made at the current City Hall or The Bank of Clarkson. For more information, contact 270-242-6997.
