Now is the time to apply for a position in local industry, said Grayson County Industrial Development Officer Dudley Cooper.
“Right now, almost every company in this community is hiring,” Cooper said during the Thursday, Jan. 23 Leitchfield City Council Planning Session.
Many companies in the community are currently utilizing organizations such as Omni Personnel to gather and screen potential applicants, Cooper said in a later interview.
Employees who Omni Personnel determines are a good fit for an available position in a company are often recommended for employment, according to Leitchfield Omni Personnel Office Manager Linda Borland
Cooper said, “It’s a good time to go and apply and put your name in the pot.”
Cooper attributes the job growth in Grayson County to the economy’s overall improvement.
“We have started really recovering from the recession,” he said.
In addition, the quality of goods produced by local manufacturers has helped to strengthen Grayson County’s economy, according to Cooper.
“We’ve just got good products,” he said.
Cooper recommends that prospective employees of local industry visit the Leitchfield office of Omni Personnel, located at 308 West Market Street.
Omni Personnel’s screening process asks potential company employees to fill out employment applications in the Omni office, where they are then reviewed, according to Borland.
If Omni Personnel determines that, based on his or her application, the prospective employee will be a good fit for a company’s position, he or she then must pass a drug test, after which time he or she will be recommended for employment at that company, Borland said.
Omni Personnel is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and may be contacted by phone at 270-259-9640.
