A brand new website is coming to town, and it is putting you in the driver’s seat.

Civitas Media, the parent company of The Grayson County News-Gazette, has just rolled out an interactive community website called MyOwnLeitchfield.com, which allows local residents to spread the word about area happenings and events that interest them and their neighbors.

The new website allows readers, schools, community organizations, local governments and others to post their favorite photographs, such as vacation or sports photos; share upcoming events, such as Scout meetings and bake sales; and even write their own blogs.

Two local advertisers, Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center and Steve Meredith for State Representative have stepped forward to sponsor MyOwnLeitchfield.com and help make this new interactive website available to the community.

“The MyOwn Community website is based on the town square, or public square, concept,” said Michael Bush, Civitas Media’s President and CEO. “As an amateur historian, I am intrigued by how communities were influenced by the interaction that took place in the town square, or community center, and how important that type of interaction still is today.”

The new website is a community-specific news, information and engagement platform driven by the most important individuals in Leitchfield and Grayson County - its citizens. “The MyOwn sites can revolutionize the way neighbors connect with each other and their communities,” Bush said.

“With today’s busy lifestyles it has become more and more difficult for individuals and families to easily maintain the level of daily interaction that keeps a community vibrant. As the leading source of news and information, we felt we should find a solution to keep community members involved, informed and active,” said Theresa Armstrong, General Manager of The Grayson County News-Gazette.

The MyOwn website is an innovative way to find out about, and participate in, what’s going on near you. Described as “Facebook without the drama,” the site has been built so that you have plenty of opportunity to share photos, videos and stories, as well play online games, post upcoming events or just see what your neighbors are doing.

“The MyOwnLeitchfield website is the solution the community has been looking for,” Armstrong said. “The MyOwnLeitchfield site will strengthen our community and improve the lives of its residents, but we can’t do it without everyone’s support.”

Leitchfield’s MyOwn website is now available at MyOwnLeitchfield.com. Log in today and see where community comes together.
