“Healthy” finish qualifies HOSA for Nationals

Grayson County HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) made a strong showing at the recent State Leadership Conference, with several students advancing to National competition by placing in the top three of their event.

First place National qualifiers include: Mekenzie Ballard, Medical Assisting, Dayton Blair, Medical Law and Ethics, Miranda Boaz, Pharmacology, Taylor Kinser, Clinical Nursing, and Josie Reynolds, Behavioral Science.

Makayla Mathis and Emily Neff placed second in Forensic Medicine, and Peyton Spears took third place in Pathophysiology.

Students placing in the Top 5 in their event included Austin Milliner and Lexi Logsdon, CERT Skills; Ethan Hornback, Veterinary Science; and Serenity Miller, Clinical Specialty.

HOSA’s National Leadership Conference will be held June 21-24 in Orlando. GCHS HOSA advisors are Donna Priest and Erin Johnston.
