Not only is GCHS a US News and World Report “Best High School,” the school is also the 2015-16 KY Region 5 High Attendance Day Award winner. The award is given each year by the Kentucky Directors of Pupil Personnel to emphasize the importance of attendance to student success.

Both Clarkson and Lawler have previously won the Region 5 elementary division. GCHS won its division with attendance of 95.6 percent. Region 5 is comprised of nearby counties and independent districts including Nelson, Breckinridge, Hardin, Larue, Meade and several others.
