Grayson County E-911 service recently received an upgrade in facilities thanks to cooperation between the emergency service and the Grayson County Detention Center.
The building housing the repeater equipment for the Falls of Rough area had been heavily damaged due to weather events in recent years. The building had been compromised to the point that it was unsafe and E-911 was in danger of losing the equipment used primarily by Falls of Rough Fire Department.
A crew from the Grayson County Detention Center constructed a new building on the existing site and cleaned up the area to minimize the potential for future damage from encroaching vegetation, falling limbs and ice.
Funding for construction materials came from an insurance settlement the emergency services received while the labor involved was supplied by the detention center. The total cost of the new building came in at under $1,200.
