A MRI service truck caught fire in the rear parking lot of Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center (TLRMC) on Wednesday morning, Aug. 12.
Leitchfield Fire Department (LFD), Leitchfield Police Department (LPD), and Grayson County Emergency Medical Services (GCEMS) personnel responded to the truck fire in the Thomas Ambulatory Service Center parking lot behind TLRMC in Leitchfield at around 10:21 a.m. on Wednesday.
Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall said a small fire had ignited inside the compartment of a Mobile Instrument Service & Repair Inc. MRI service truck.
No one was inside the service truck at the time of the fire, Duvall said.
Firefighters knocked the blaze down quickly with minimal damage to the truck itself; however, LFD First Lieutenant Kevin Pharis said that, due to the significant fire damage inside the truck’s compartment, it will likely no longer be operational.
According to Pharis, the fire that broke out inside the service truck compartment burned the back wall one-third of the way up.
A cause of the fire had not been determined on the scene. The LFD cleared the scene of the fire at approximately 10:38 a.m.
