The City of Clarkson will be hosting a blood drive on Friday, August 14.
The drive will kick off at 12 noon and run until 5 p.m., giving area residents an opportunity to give back and help others.
The event is being organized by Police Chief Buck Meredith, who suggested that instead of a typical meet-and-greet to welcome him as Chief, the city put together an event that could make a big difference in people’s lives.
Everyone is encouraged to stop by City Hall on Millerstown Road where the American Red Cross will be accepting donations.
The Red Cross recommends that donors be sure to drink plenty of fluids on donation day and wear something comfortable with sleeves that can easily be rolled above the elbow.
The group also recommends bringing a list of any medications that may be in your system in addition to bringing an ID which could be a donor card, drivers license, or two other forms of identification.
According to the Red Cross, donors should be in good general health and feeling well, be at least 16 years old, and weigh at least 110 pounds. Also, some medical conditions or medications may disqualify a donor.
