The 2015 Ride Around Central Kentucky (R.A.C.K.) saw the largest number of participants in the annual event’s 11-year history this past Saturday, Aug. 1.
R.A.C.K. Coordinator Rick Embry, of Embry’s Bike Shop, said this year saw “a solid 200” bicyclists—many of whom had participated in the ride in previous years—from about four different states participate in the ride.
Embry said the 2015 R.A.C.K. also went the smoothest in event history, with no accidents and “perfect weather.”
As part of the ride, bicyclists are divided into four groups based on the lengths of their routes.
Bicyclists who participated in the 62- and 45-mile routes took off from the Grayson County Fairgrounds at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, and bicyclists who participated in the 30- and 15-mile routes began at 8 a.m.
On behalf of R.A.C.K., Embry wished to thank Leitchfield Tourism for funding the event, as well as the Leitchfield Police Department, the Leitchfield Lions Club, and all other volunteers for their assistance in making the event possible.
