Leitchfield and Grayson County Tourism are seeking volunteers to assist with running the Leitchfield-Grayson County Tourism Booth at the Kentucky State Fair later this month.
The Kentucky State Fair will be held from Aug. 20 through Aug. 30 in the Kentucky Exposition Center at 937 Phillips Ln. in Louisville, and Leitchfield and Grayson County Tourism will operate a booth there every day.
“It’s just a good way to see what other communities have to offer and [show] what we have to offer,” said Leitchfield Tourism Director Ilsa Johnson, who explained that the city and county have made “awesome” contacts at the state fair in the past.
Shifts for the booth run from four to six hours, depending on volunteers’ preference, and volunteers will hand out informational literature and brochures (provided by tourism officials) about the City of Leitchfield and Grayson County, as well as register individuals for prize packages.
Prize packages for this year will include, among other things, a Rough River Lake getaway, a Nolin Lake getaway, Leitchfield Aquatic Center passes, and a Hatfield Inn hot tub suite, Johnson said.
Numerous shifts are still available, and individuals who are interested in volunteering at the Leitchfield-Grayson County Tourism booth at the Kentucky State Fair are asked to contact County Tourism Director Brittany Gary at 270-259-5587 by Friday, Aug. 7.
