Two individuals were arrested following a drug bust by Grayson County law enforcement last Thursday evening, March 16.

At approximately 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) deputies arrived at a residence on Beaver Dam Road to serve a warrant on Ashley Simpson, Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins said in a news release.

Simpson was wanted on two Failure to Appear warrants for Trafficking charges, a Fleeing and/or Evading Police charge, and a Hindering Apprehension charge, according to Chaffins.

While deputies were at the residence, the property owner, 62-year-old Darrell Crume, of Caneyville, was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, Chaffins said.

The GCSO then contacted the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force, and law enforcement subsequently obtained a search warrant, which was later executed at Crume’s residence, according to Chaffins.

During the search, law enforcement discovered the finished product of suspected methamphetamine, ingredients used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, an arsenal of handguns and long guns, numerous drug paraphernalia, and “a significant amount of cash,” Chaffins said in the release.

Crume was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine Greater Than 2 Grams and Possession of Methamphetamine, and multiple other felony charges are pending, the release states.

Simpson was located at the scene and arrested for her charges, as well.

Both Crume and Simpson were lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

Simpson is currently lodged in the detention center on multiple bonds, totaling over $10,500.

Crume was released on a $2,500 bond set by Pretrial Services “and was back on the streets less than nine hours after he was lodged,” Chaffins said.

The GCSO and Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force were also assisted by the Leitchfield Police Department.
