Nick’s School of Rock and Music Store is officially in business at 50 Public Square in Leitchfield.
The unique shop was dreamed up by local business partners Nick Ramsey and Jeremy Logsdon, who seek to bring a musical touch to historic downtown in a variety of ways.
The main act at Nick’s School of Rock, said Ramsey, is music lessons for kids and adults of all ages.
Students began taking classes at the location in early June, and there are currently 17 budding musicians between the ages of six and 50 training at the School of Rock.
Ramsey instructs students learning to play guitar, bass guitar, drums and piano. He said that he hopes to add additional instructors as the business expands in order to offer an even wider variety of options.
A second goal that Logsdon and Ramsey set when they opened Nick’s was to provide local entertainment for all ages.
The pair will host in-store concerts on Friday nights “as often as possible,” Ramsey said, adding that they hope to feature local musicians as well as some out-of-town acts.
In addition to instruction and live entertainment, the location also serves as a shop with a wide variety of vinyl records, record players, instrument accessories and more.
Ramsey said that the idea for the School of Rock “has been there for four or five years,” and was refined after he and Logsdon teamed up early this year, merging ideas until they landed on the current plan.
The pair hopes to expand over time to provide more opportunities for the community as they grow.
