Staff Report

On Saturday, Aug. 15, the Mud Volleyball Challenge will return to connect players with a fun way to support an important cause.

The annual event, hosted by UPS Supply Chain Solutions, will begin at 9 a.m. CST at the business’ Black Branch Road location in Elizabethtown. The event is made possible by Champion Sponsor Republic Bank, with all profits from the tournament benefitting United Way of Central Kentucky (UWCK).

The registration fee is $160 for teams of six to eight players, and co-ed rules requiring at least two players of each gender on the court will apply. Individuals interested in participating can be matched with a team by the event coordinators for a rate of $30 per player. Each participant will receive a special event t-shirt. Register by Monday, Aug. 3 with United Way of Central Kentucky online at unitedwayck.org, by email to tevans@unitedwayck.org, or by phone at (270) 737-6608 to ensure t-shirt availability.

Funds raised will support UWCK’s network of programs that improve Education, Financial Stability, and Health while providing a safety net of services to meet Basic Needs. Past fundraising efforts have resulted in grants being awarded to 24 nonprofit agencies with 34 programs serving local residents of Hardin, Breckinridge, Grayson, LaRue, and Meade Counties.

“This event is not only fun, but a perfect example of how individuals and businesses come together to LIVE UNITED by creating opportunities for more families to become self-sufficient,” said UWCK President & CEO Megan Stith. “We look forward to friendly competition among friends and co-workers, as this is a great way for a company engage their employees in support of our local United Way.”
