Due to the high number of projects the Leitchfield utilities are currently working on, they will not be able to offer free natural gas hook-ups for new customers this year.
Utilities Commissioner Alden Alley addressed the Leitchfield Utilities Commission about whether the city utilities could offer free hook-ups for natural gas customers this year, during the regularly scheduled, Thursday, July 16 Utilities Commission meeting.
Utilities Superintendent Dwight Embry said the utilities had intended to provide free natural gas hook-ups in August, but with their manpower so busy this year with other projects, it would be “counterproductive” to add numerous gas lines to their workload, as well.
Embry assured that Leitchfield Utilities always wants to attract new customers, however.
Utilities Chairman Robert Crawford said the city has offered free natural gas hook-ups for new customers in the past as a promotional effort, but that was several years ago.

*Crawford said the utilities began replacing natural gas lines in the Kingswood community, located in Breckinridge County on Thursday.
