The Twin Lakes Humane Society will host the first ever Halloween Strut Your Mutt fun walk fundraiser this Saturday, Oct. 22 at Leitchfield Firefighter’s Memorial Park.
Grayson Countians are invited to dress themselves and their pets in Halloween costumes to participate and be entered to win prizes during the event, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Money raised from the event will benefit the Twin Lakes Humane Society, which is the biggest supporter of the Leitchfield Animal Shelter.
The event is free for humans, and there is a $5 entry fee for pets; however, there will be free entry for former Leitchfield Animal Shelter pets.
In addition to the costume contest, Strut Your Mutt will include food and games for children, as well as $25 on-site microchipping and registration for microchips.
Leitchfield Animal Shelter Director Jessica Fulkerson said she has contributed prizes to the event, including half-off adoption certificates.
In addition, 10 of the Leitchfield Animal Shelter’s $25 spay/neuter vouchers will be given out on a first come, first served basis. Only one voucher may be given per household.
These vouchers will count toward $25 of the cost of a spay or neuter procedure at a local veterinary clinic, Fulkerson said.
The Twin Lakes Humane Society hopes the event will become an annual fundraiser going forward. It is open to all of Grayson County, not just Leitchfield residents.
The Leitchfield Firefighter’s Memorial Park is located at 1103 Brandenburg Rd.
