Local live music venue Calvin Ray’s Music Hall and Restaurant will be auctioned this Saturday, Oct. 15.

The location, 5170 Beaver Dam Rd., Leitchfield, has a storied history. It was previously used as a VFW shop, a bowling alley, and a skating rink before being converted into Calvin Ray’s Music Hall and Restaurant.

Auctioneer Jeremy Lee, with Thomason & Sohm Realty & Auction Co., said that, following the passing of owner Calvin Ray Johnson in July 2015, the family is now ready to let the building go.

“It’s ready for a new owner,” said Lee, adding that over $1 million have been invested in the building.

The auction, which will be held on-site at Calvin Ray’s at 10 a.m. on Saturday, has a minimum starting reserve bid of $199,000.

The property is 3.69 acres with a 16,693-square-foot, wheelchair accessible building, and all equipment will remain with the building, including theater seating for 660 people, Lee said.

“The PVA tax assessment on the building alone is $345,000,” said Lee.

The property also features sound and lighting equipment, an arcade room, modern restaurant equipment, including a kitchen, tables and chairs, and more.

A 10 percent buyer’s premium will be added to the final bid to determine the final sales price, and a $20,000 deposit will be due from the buyer at the signing of the contract.
