The Grayson County Extension Service and Breckinridge County Extension Service will offer a Beef Master Marketer Program to any person or producer involved with or interested in the beef industry.
The three-part curriculum for marketing strategies for beef cattle is funded by the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board and is a Kentucky Beef Network program. The program will cover topics on Feeder Cattle Quality, Price Discovery, Using Futures, Advanced Futures and Option Strategies, and Decision Making for Stocker Operations and more! Advanced registration and payment of the $25 fee is required by Monday, Oct. 3, 2016. The sessions will be held on the following schedule:
Session 1: Cattle Market Basics – presented by Kevin Laurent, UK Animal Sciences, held on Monday, Oct. 10, 2016 at 6:00 p.m., CST, at the Grayson County Office.
Session 2: Decision Making – presented by Dr. Kenny Burdine, UK Agricultural Economics Specialist, held on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016 at 6:00 p.m., CST, at the Grayson County Office.
Session 3: Advanced Futures & Options – presented by Dr. Kenny Burdine, UK Agricultural Economics Specialist, held on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016 at 6:00 p.m., CST, at the Breckinridge County Office.
The program is designed to enhance the profitability of beef operations by equipping producers with vital information; to provide participants with a ready reference on the educational sessions and introduce them to several different marketing programs; and allow participants to network with specialists, facilitators, and other beef producers.
