The Leitchfield Fire Department responded to a house fire off of Kiper Road on Friday afternoon, Aug. 19.

At 3:04 p.m. on Friday, the Leitchfield Fire Department (LFD) was called to a reported house fire at 1256 Kiper Rd. in Leitchfield.

The Clarkson Volunteer Fire Department was also initially called to respond to the residence to provide mutual aid, but shortly after arriving on the scene, LFD personnel determined they could handle the situation on their own.

LFD Captain Roy Hack said the homeowners had already extinguished the fire using garden hoses and were able to contain it to the attic area by the time Leitchfield firefighters had arrived on the scene.

LFD personnel then proceeded to cool the burned area off with water and ensure it would not reignite, Hack said.

The cause of the fire was not yet known on the scene, and the homeowner’s name has not yet been released.

The LFD cleared the scene, leaving the residence to the homeowners, at 3:42 p.m. Friday.
