Lakes’ public review for Shoreline Management Plan completed

Staff Report

The Shoreline Management Plan for Barren River, Nolin River, and Rough River lakes, Kentucky, has undergone a comprehensive review and update, including a public review period that ended on Dec.17, 2015.

All comments received during that review period have been considered, and they have been incorporated into the final plan where appropriate.

In accordance with federal regulations controlling the Shoreline Management Plan update process, a moratorium was placed on accepting applications for new licensed or permitted facilities at these lakes. This moratorium was lifted at 6:30 a.m. Central Daylight Time on Aug. 11, 2016.

Eligible landowners are now able to submit applications for all facilities allowed under the 2015 Shoreline Management Plan and any pending applications can now be processed. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The 2015 Plan is available at http://www.lrl.usace.army.mil/Missions/Civil-Works/Recreation/Shoreline/NBR/.

Paper copies can be obtained at the project offices.
