The City of Caneyville approved more than $27,000 in maintenance work on its water tanks this week.

During the regularly scheduled Monday, Aug. 8 Caneyville City Commission meeting, the price quote for the routine maintenance on the city’s three water tanks was presented for the Commission’s approval.

The work—to be performed by Pittsburgh Tank & Tower Maintenance Co., Inc.—will cost a total of $27,450 and will include cleaning the water tanks and replacing the water tower gauges and vents with new frost-free vents.

Due to Pittsburgh Tank & Tower’s use of robotic equipment for the work, Caneyville’s water customers should not be out of service, according to Caneyville City Clerk Connie Gootee.

“It will not affect our customers,” Gootee said.

According to Caneyville City Commissioner Scott Majors, the city budgeted about $50,000 for the routine maintenance work in its budget for the 2016-2017 fiscal year.

Pittsburgh Tank & Tower is expected to perform the maintenance work sometime between the end of August and the end of September, Gootee said.
