Due to bridge inspection reports, the bridges on Bloomington Road and Pine Knob Road will be closed until further notice for repairs.
The underneath of the bridges need repair due to steel deterioration, according to Grayson County Judge Executive Gary Logsdon.
A request for funding from the Emergency Bridge Fund was filed with all necessary paperwork earlier this week. A special called Fiscal Court meeting will be held on Monday, Aug. 15, at 11:00 a.m. to discuss advertising bids for construction on the bridges.
The work will be put up for bids for 30 days to determine who will make the repairs, until then the bridges will be closed.
“It’s hard to say; it will be 30 days, we know. Just as soon as we get the ball rolling,” said Logsdon of how long the bridges will remain closed.
Until the Bloomington and Pine Knob bridges are re-opened, residents will have to take the longer, alternate routes to get to their destinations.
