The Leitchfield Aquatic Center held their annual Disney Day on Saturday, July 23.
With the sweltering heat, children and adults alike could enjoy the pool as well as meet their favorite Disney characters, listening to their favorite Disney songs in the background.
“We do it every year; a lot of people come to it,” said Taylor Hoskins, who dressed up as Aurora on Saturday. “The kids love it.”
Lifeguards and other staff at the Aquatic Center were dressed as different Disney movie characters. Children could see Aladdin, played by Johnny Logsdon, in the lifeguard chair, or Stitch, played by Taylor Tilford, at the slide, or Tinker Bell, played by Tara Powell, minding the lazy river.
Princesses and other characters greeted visitors at the entrance all day and a Disney favorite was always at the concession stands and life guard stations as well.
“The princesses are always really popular. But Peter Pan, that’s pretty recognizable,” said Kevin Brackett, a lifeguard who portrayed Peter Pan for the day.
Visitors could pay a dollar for a chance to win a Disney princess backpack full of school supplies and a kite in recognition of the upcoming school year.
Children enjoyed seeing their favorite characters at this year’s Disney Day while also cooling down at the Leitchfield Aquatic Center.
Though the fun of the day was over at the close of the day at 6 p.m. Saturday night, visitors can remember the fun of this year’s day, as well as look forward to the next year’s Disney Day.
