The McDonald’s on South Main Street in Leitchfield was temporarily closed Thursday, July 21 following a small fire inside the restaurant.

According to General Manager Missy Shelton, a fire broke out in one of the fryers in the restaurant at around 8:00 a.m. on Thursday morning as the fryer was being emptied.

Employees quickly activated fire suppression equipment and extinguished the flames.

No injuries or major damages were reported, despite several people, including restaurant staff, being inside the restaurant at the time, Shelton said.

By Thursday evening, the restaurant’s utilities had already been turned back on, according to Shelton.

McDonald’s re-opened for business on Friday morning, July 22.

The Leitchfield Fire Department assisted at the scene of the fire on Thursday morning.
