The Grayson County Alliance held its official Ducking Hunger Regatta kick-off on Saturday morning, July 9 at Leitchfield Aquatic Center.
Governing bodies and citizens of Grayson County and its cities met to proclaim July 9 as the kick off to the inaugural “Ducking Hunger” campaign, a new fundraiser for the Grayson County Alliance.
This campaign will conclude with the Ducking Hunger Regatta on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016 at Leitchfield Aquatic Center.
The campaign will allow individuals and corporate and business entities to sponsor ducks to race in the inaugural regatta, and the sponsored duck that wins a race through the Leitchfield Aquatic Center lazy river on Sept. 3 will receive a $1,000 grand prize.
Duck sponsorships will be available for purchase for $5.00 each at the Freedom/Fiddling Festival, starting Saturday, July 15 and will be sold until the regatta on Sept. 3.
Sponsors may also choose to pay $20 for a duck and event t-shirt. Corporate sponsors may receive a sign for their businesses stating their support of the Grayson County Alliance.
Funds raised from this event will benefit the Grayson County Alliance Food Pantry and help thousands of residents in the community “duck hunger.”
