The City of Leitchfield will commemorate its 150th anniversary with a celebration on the square next Friday, July 15.

The event will feature free food, entertainment, and activities for all ages, as well as serve to commence that weekend’s Freedom/Fiddling Festival activities.

Leitchfield’s Public Square will be closed at noon (12:00 p.m.) on July 15 in preparation for the night’s activities, which will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a welcome from Leitchfield Mayor William Thomason and free entertainment throughout the evening.

The evening’s entertainment will be headlined by former American Idol contestant and Grayson County native Elvie Shane, who will perform from around 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The annual City of Leitchfield fireworks display, which will be visible from the square, will commence following Shane’s performance.

Free hamburgers, hot dogs, and birthday cake will be available for attendees courtesy of Cross Point and the City of Leitchfield.

Additionally, inflatables, refreshments, and other free activities will be available for kids to enjoy. The children’s activities for the event will be sponsored by a number of local businesses.

The Western Kentucky Car Club will also host its annual Cruise-In on the square that night, as well.

“Come help us celebrate on the square,” said Leitchfield Tourism Director Ilsa Johnson, who organized the event.
